Simon Estes

Simon Estes ( born February 2, 1938 in Centerville, Iowa) is an American opera singer ( bass-baritone ).

Life

Simon Estes was discovered while studying medicine and psychology as a member of the University of the band singing teacher Charles Kellis. Through his good offices, he received a scholarship to the famous Julliard School of Music in New York.

His international breakthrough he experienced in Europe. In 1966 he was a prize winner at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1968 he made his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Ramfis in Aida. He has since sung at all major opera houses around the world and has appeared in all well-known conductors with the leading orchestras of our time. Concert tours have taken him to all the music centers of the world.

Estes is involved in numerous charities. He teaches singing at the Boston University and lives in Switzerland.
