Simon King (broadcaster)

Simon Henry King (* December 27, 1962 in Nairobi, Kenya ) is a British presenter and cameraman for the BBC. He deals mainly with the African wildlife with a focus cheetahs.

Career

King was born in Nairobi, but emigrated at age two with his parents to Bristol, where he grew up. When his parents divorced, he lived with his sister at his mother. From 1973 to 1978 he went to the Henford School, a secondary school in Bristol.

In 1979 he produced his first film for television. This was shown in The World About Us series. Since then, he has been involved in more than 80 natural history films in different function.

King was known for the hand-rearing of two cheetah babies in Kenya whose parents have been killed by lions, internationally. The two animals were reintroduced in the appropriate age. You hunting was taught. Sambu was pulled one night of lions, only Toki reached adulthood.

Since 2002 he is the moderator of the series Big Cat Diary. There he worked with Jonathan Scott and Saba Douglas - Hamilton.

Awards

In December 2009, King was awarded the Order of Merit Order of the British Empire for his services in the wildlife photography and in wildlife protection.
