Simon Peyton Jones

Simon Peyton Jones ( born January 18, 1958 in South Africa) is one of the designers of the programming language Haskell, honorary professor at Glasgow University and developer of the Glasgow Haskell Compiler ( GHC).

Biography

1980 Peyton Jones received his degree from Trinity College, Cambridge. After working for two years in the industry, he worked as a lecturer at University College London and then as honorary professor at Glasgow University. He began by other researchers in 1987 to work on a project that had the emergence of the Haskell programming language result. Since 1998 he has worked at Microsoft Research in Cambridge and since 2004 he is elected a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM ).
