Simon Pouplin (born 28 May 1985 in Cholet ) is a French football goalkeeper.

Career

Clubs

Pouplin played in the youth departments of JF Cholet Cholet and SO, before joining Stade Rennes 2000. In 2003, he won the junior team the Coupe Gambardella by a 4-1 win over the young of Racing Strasbourg. His first two brief appearances in Ligue 1, he came towards the end of the 2003/04 season as a substitute for Petr Čech. In June 2005 Pouplin signed his first professional contract with Stade Rennes and was after the departure of Andreas Isaksson for the season 2006 /07 goalkeeper of the Bretons. In February 2008 Pouplin lost his place to Patrice Luzi.

After the signing of Nicolas Douchez during the summer break in 2008 left Pouplin Rennes and changed for at least 400,000 euros to the German second division club SC Freiburg. There he signed a two -year contract with an option for another. As a goalkeeper, he was much involved in the second division championship and promotion of SC Freiburg in the 2008 /09 season. His place in the gate took over Oliver Baumann, who retained his place in goal after Pouplins recovery.
