Sinimäe is a village (Estonian alevik ) in the rural community Vaivara ( Vaivara vald ). It is located in Ida -Viru county (East Wierland ) in northeastern Estonia.

Description and History

The village has 372 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2012).

Sinimäe is the capital of the rural community Vaivara. It was created in the 1950s on the site of the previous village, which had been completely destroyed in the heavy fighting between the Red Army and the German Wehrmacht from February to September 1944.

2008 Sinimäe a lookout tower was inaugurated, with which the visitor can overlook the former battlefields. To plaques found at the elementary school of Sinimäe for the Norwegian, Danish and Flemish soldiers who fought on the side of the Germans against the Soviet troops.
