Sinister (Latin for 'left', later in engl., Ominously ' ) are a death metal band from Schiedam (Netherlands).

History

After your demo Sacramental Carnage Sinister were taken from the German record label Nuclear Blast under contract. The band released three albums, the well-received by the audience. Mike van Mastrigt expressed a strong interest in Satanism and the occult; after he left the lyrical concept of Sinister away from it. Most of the band felt the not connected, instead wrote the bassist Alex Paul, who now writes most of the lyrics, and the new vocalist anti-Christian texts.

The crisis of the death metal scene in the mid -1990s has left traces also on Sinister. The band split up by Nuclear Blast and released Creative Killings at the Dutch label Hammerheart Records.

This did not lead to the hoped-for upturn for the band; you returned to Nuclear Blast. Attention was the band temporarily because of their singer Rachel Heyzer. Your growls were indistinguishable from those of a man barely. Rachel was replaced after a time by a male singer.

The band broke up in 2005 for a short time transient.
