Sipkovica

Šipkovica ( Шипковица Macedonian, Albanian Shipkovica ) is a village near Tetovo in the north of Macedonia. It belongs to the municipality of Tetovo and has about 7,200 inhabitants.

The village Šipkovica runs along a slope, which flows into the over 2700 meter high mountain range of the Šar Planina to the north. There is the border with Kosovo. The place was one of the headquarters of the Albanian resistance during the clashes between the Albanian KLA in Macedonia and the Macedonian government. Šipkovica was one of the first villages in Macedonia that have been since March, controlled by the KLA and therefore fired. At the time of former Yugoslav President Tito Sipkovica was called because of Albanian nationalism "Little Albania ". This still applies today.
