Sir Lucan

Sir Lucan is a legendary figure from the Arthurian legends and the Arthurian romance.

Background

Sir Lucan is a son of the Duke Corneus and maternal half-brother of Sir Bedivere, and the cousin of Sir griflet. Le Morte Darthur by Thomas Malory he assumes the office of the royal butler, also Butler at the court of King Arthur. He belongs to the Knights of the Round Table and has held as cupbearer of the most important court offices. In the battles of King Arthur to the rule in Britain, he is one with his relatives to his first collaborators. He defended bravely at the Battle of Bedegraine whose right to the throne. Although he is looking for adventure, he never comes to the forefront of Arthurian stories. He takes part in the royal tournaments, being once so severely injured by Sir Tristram, that Sir Yvain must bring in an abbey that he is there nursed back to health. Even later, he remains a loyal follower and fights in the fateful Battle of Camlann at the side of the king. Sir Lucan dies trying to save the also seriously injured Arthur.
