Sirig

Sirig ( Serbian Cyrillic Сириг, Hungarian Szőreg ) is a village in the Southern Backa Serbia. It belongs to Opština Temerin in the autonomous province of Vojvodina. Sirig a Serbian majority population, its population was 3,010 at the 2002 census was people.
History
Sirig is the youngest and smallest village of Opština Temerin. For the first time the village in the 15th century is mentioned. Hungarian soldiers have killed more than 1,000 residents of Sirig during the Second World War on 13 and 14 April 1941 and burned down the whole village.
