Sitina-Tunnel

The Sitina Tunnel ( Tunel Slovak Sitina or Sitiny ) is a highway tunnel to the D2 highway in the Slovak capital Bratislava. It is 1440 m long and runs through the Little Carpathians.

The construction began in December 2003, and the solemn puncture of the first tube on 8 February 2005. The construction was carried out by the New Austrian Tunnelling Method. The official release with the last missing section of D2 was on 23 June 2007, which was opened to traffic the next day. The cost was estimated at 3.5 billion SKK ( approximately 116 million euros ) and increased to 4.5 billion SKK ( about 149 million euros ).
