The four-point jumping spider ( Sitticus pubescens ) is a species of the family of jumping spiders ( Salticidae ).

Description

The four-point jumping spider is 4 to 5 mm in size. Like the other species of the genus Sitticus it has a stocky body with heart-shaped abdomen and orange -bordered eyes. Identifying the type found in the drawing, which is largely the same in males and females, although the males are slightly darker. The top of the dark brown to black front body is covered with white hairs. Prior to the back of the eye they form a bright triangle. On the equally dark abdomen the hairs form a few pairs of symmetrically arranged bright spots, which have led to the German name of the species.

Way of life

The four-point jumping spider is often found near human habitations, along walls, fences and wood piles, and sometimes inside houses. In the wild, they prefer areas of heat and keeps there mostly on tree trunks, rocks and quarries on.

Dissemination

The species is widespread throughout Europe to southern Scandinavia and England. In the preferred habitats, it is quite common.
