SK LSPA/Riga

The Sporta clubs Riga is a sports club founded in 1999 from Riga, who is mainly known for its hockey department, but also maintains departments for volleyball, basketball, cycling and football.

Hockey Department

The Hockey section of the club has existed since 1999 and has since operated mainly young talent. The first team of the club, which is operating under varying names - SK LSPA / Riga, Riga SK 20, SK Riga 95 - competes, takes part in the play operation of Latvian Hockey League.

History

The Hockey department was founded with the rest of the club and was its home games at first from the Rigas pils Sporta. The men's team of the club was founded in 2000 relocated to the HK Riga 2000. The other junior teams take part in the respective Latvian Junior Divisions.

From 2004, the U20 Junior team of the club took part in 20 to the Samsung Premjerliga and thus the highest Latvian league in hockey under the name SK Riga. The player squad consisted mainly of members of the Latvian U20 national team, which was preparing to play in the operation of the league to international tournaments. 2007, the Club moved into the hall to Akadēmijas Ledus and the team played as SK LSPA / Riga. The team was coached until 2008 by Oleg Znaroks before Vjačeslavs Nazarovs this took office.

In summer 2009, the U20 team was disbanded, the team incorporated into the KHL Dinamo Riga club and renamed to Dinamo- Juniors Riga. The SK Riga played from now on with his U18 team in the Latvian Hockey League.
