Skalariak

Skalariak is one of Spain's most famous ska bands.

Band History

The band was founded in 1994 in Navarre Pamplona by the Skalari brothers Juantxo and Pejo. When she had just taken place at that time a dozen concerts, the record label GOR Records became aware of them. After a couple of their songs had found recording in samplers, the group released in 1997 their first album " Skalariak ".

Two years later (1999) they recorded a second album with the title "Club Ska ". It was very well received and the band went on an extended tour that took them through Europe and even to Mexico.

2001, the band released their third album. It was called " En La Kalle " (German: on the street ), and the band made ​​numerous, even impromptu street performances in Basque towns called all the glory.

Again, every two years the band waited 2003 with the album " radio ghetto ". The plate had - like the previous albums - a decidedly political claim, saying social issues from a left perspective on. Following a tour followed by Europe, where the band appeared inter alia on the Swiss Open Air Festival in St. Gallen and belts.

In November 2005, the latest step album " Luz Rebelde " was released.

Lyrics and music

The Castilian and Basque to a small part lyrics offer a peculiar mixture of anarchism and Basque nationalism. The quite distinct punk influences in the first album " Skalariak " occur in the later publications increasingly into the background.
