Skies of Arcadia

Published Skies of Arcadia, in Japan as Eternal Arcadia (Japaneseエターナル アルカディア, Etānaru Arukadia ) is a role playing game that was developed by Over Works for the Dreamcast and published by Sega in 2000 and ported to the Gamecube in 2002.

Game mechanics

In Skies of Arcadia you explore dungeons and cities, which are located on different continents flying, which can be traveling by airship. Each continent has its own civilization and climate. Since the in-game world is a sphere, there is no unnatural boundaries. The battles are divided into ground and air combat. Ground combat play is similar to the other Japanese role-playing games ( such as Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest ), each character has special attacks and can acquire different spells. There are 6 different types of magic, each of which has different effect priorities. The dogfights, however, be denied the airship. Again, the system of turn-based battle holds, where the capabilities of the ship play a major role. During the game, the player gains control of various airships, which have different strengths and are freely accessible. It is also possible to set up their own pirate hideout and expand. Observant players can track a lot of hidden places and make a title system by a name.

Action

The heroes of the game are Vyse, son of the captain of the hijackers and Aika, a loyal pirate who is always on Vyse's side. In the world of Skies of Arcadia people live on floating continents and islands. Fearless hijackers explore here with their airships the unknown areas of the world. Always on the lookout for treasures and unexpected territories, roam the hijackers the sky until they encounter one day on a battleship of Valuan Empire and seize their opportunity. After a fight the hijackers eventually succeeds in taking over the ship and they go with countless treasures and an unconscious prisoners of Valuan Empires on the way home to the Pirate Isle. Once there, the story deepens the enigmatic prisoner named Fina. When it occurred even a fleet of Valuan Empires anrückt and the Pirates including Fina captures, Vyse and Aika swear revenge and make his way to free their friends. When that's done, they embark on a search for the Moon Crystals, six mystical objects that originate from the ancient Moon Civilization and with which one can control the Gigas; Big robots, with which the people of Valua nothing stands in the way.
