Å koda Auto Museum

The Škoda Muzeum is a vehicle museum in the Czech town of Mladá Boleslav right next to the work of Škoda Auto. The museum vehicles of the manufacturer are issued.

History

The company Laurin & Klement was founded on December 18, 1895 on this point, originally as a bicycle manufacturer. At that time, Laurin & Klement was the largest bicycle manufacturer in the country. In the same year the foundation began with the production of motorcycles, from 1905 cars were produced. 1925 Laurin & Klement was sold to the heavy industrial group based in Škoda Plzeň. The automotive branch was spun off after the Second World War as a state enterprise. This company was privatized in 1990 and since then is as Skoda Auto of the Volkswagen Group.

The museum was housed until 2012 distributed in several former factory buildings, it dominated vehicles from the period after 1945. Due to lack of space exhibits were repeatedly exchanged with models from the depot. The early history of the company Laurin & Klement took the entrance a large area. As a predecessor company of Škoda she was the main producer of bicycles and motorcycles later in the Bohemian region. The bikes were produced, and also later the motorcycles and cars, equipped with less technical innovations rather than mass-produced for average earners. The bikes were intended for the broad mass market, had no circuits and were equipped with the then usual resignation hub of Fichtel & Sachs. Today's exhibition

The building belongs to a century-old factory complex which was built in the years 1898 to 1912 and were produced until 1926 in the car. Even in the 1970s the building was used industrially. After 9 months of renovation, the museum was reopened on 26 November 2012. The museum today covers about 1800 m² area in former production halls of Laurin & Klement and shows 45 cars as well as numerous individual exhibits.

The renovated old building is dominated by white walls, oak flooring and a clearly structured, restrained interior design. The exhibition is divided into thematic areas, " tradition ", " Evolution " and " precision " structured and arranged around a central auditorium around. The collection includes approximately 300 vehicles, each about 1800 to 5000 hours are needed for a restoration.
