Skúli Sverrisson

Skúli Sverrisson ( born October 23, 1966 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic jazz bassist.

Sverrisson studied in Iceland bass and composition with Jón Sigurðsson and played 1984 first recording with the group Pax Vobis one. From 1987 to 1991 he studied at the Berklee College of Music. He worked at the time with musicians such as Bob Moses, Danilo Pérez, Wolfgang Muthspiel and Mino Cinelu. With Carsten Tiedemann, he founded the group Mo Boma, with whom he recorded four albums.

From 1991 to 1996 he toured with guitarist Allan Holdsworth. He then worked among others with Derek Bailey, Peter Brötzmann, Tim Berne, John Lurie, Chris Speed ​​and Naná Vasconcelos and recorded a CD with Anthony Burr and a duo album with the Icelandic guitarist Hilmar Jensson.

With Chris Speed ​​, Jim Black and Brad Shepik Sverrisson is the quartet Pachora.
