Slobodan Branković (athletics)

Slobodan Brankovic ( born October 1, 1967 in Obrenovac ) is a former Yugoslav sprinter who specialized in the 400 -meter run.

The European Athletics Championships 1986, he was part of the Yugoslav team which came in seventh place in the 4 x 400 - meter relay. In 1988, he retired at the Olympic Games in Seoul in the supply of retail competition and reached the semi-finals of the relay. The following year he was fourth at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Budapest.

In 1990 he was at the European Athletics Championships in Split sixth in the individual competition and fifth in the season, 1991, he came with the Yugoslav relay at the IAAF World Championships in Tokyo to fourth place.

In 1992, he won gold at the Indoor Athletics Championships in Genoa. Because of UN sanctions against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, he started at the Olympic Games in Barcelona as an Independent Olympian and reached the quarterfinals. At the World Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 he did not make it past the first round.

Twice he was Yugoslav champion in the 100 m (1992, 1993), four times more than 200 m (1988-1990, 1993) and once over 400 m ( 1989).

He is currently the Secretary General of the Serbian Association of Athletics Federations.
