Smoke City

Smoke City is a music band from London. The band's style is strongly influenced by Brazilian music and modern trends of electronic music such as trip-hop and acid jazz.

Members of the group are originally from Germany Chris Franck ( guitar, keyboards, percussion, bass, vocals, special effects), Mark Brown (programming, turntables, keyboards, percussion, vocals, special effects) and the singer Nina Miranda.

Smoke City released their first CD Flying Away in 1997, which included a worldwide hit with Underwater Love. Large became famous for the song as a music for a commercial for Levi's jeans brand. With Mr. Gorgeous ( and Miss Curvaceous ) and Joga Bossa ( Aguas de Março ) were more successful singles.

Their second album, Heroes of Nature was released in 2001 and was unable to repeat the success of the debut album. According to an entry on the MySpace page of Miranda's and Franck's successor band ZEEP Smoke City was disbanded due to excessive expectations on the part of the record company in 2001. Miranda and Franck fell in love and had a son. Published in 2007 the first album of the same name ZEEP, 2009 refilled with "People & Things ".
