SMS Stein

The SMS stone was a sailing vessel with steam drive the Bismarck class of the Imperial Navy. The type of ship was referred to as Covered Corvette since his guns under at least partial deck - ie "covered" - stood. Construction and technical data

The launch of the 2,994 -ton ship was in Szczecin at the shipyard AG Vulcan on September 14, 1879. The ship was named after the Prussian Minister of State Heinrich Friedrich Karl vom und zum Stein ( 1757-1831 ). History

The stone was used as a training ship for cadets, midshipmen and ship's boys. One of the more famous midshipmen was the future head of the Amt Ausland / Abwehr, Admiral Wilhelm Canaris. 1897, the stone was used in conjunction with the SMS Charlotte in Haiti to seek to enforce a German complaint.

The ship was from 1908 Hulk and was scrapped in 1920.
