SNCB Class 27

The locomotives of the HLE 27 are a series of electric locomotives and have been used since 1981 by the Belgian National Railways for the cover of passenger and freight trains. In the 1980s, 60 vehicles were built and designated with the numbers 2701 to 2760, all of which are still in use.

The episode series HLE 11 HLE 12 HLE and 21 are nearly identical in design, but they only have about 2 /3 of the performance of the HLE 27 Moreover, the HLE 11 HLE 12 and a cross-border use.

The locomotive in 2711 promoted in 1991 a train with 70 coaches and hereby broke the record for the " longest passenger train in the world", two years previously set by the locomotive 1607 Dutch Series 1600/1800 with 60 drawn wagon.

Since 2006 has been installed in all locomotives MUX, a push-pull train, with which they can be controlled by the controlling car type M6. In addition to the push-pull train the machines are equipped 2742-2760 also features automatic central buffer couplings (type GF) to triebzugähnliche wing trains on the axis Blankenberge / Knokke - Ghent - Brussels - Leuven -Liège / be able to drive Genk.
