Snowflake (heraldry)

The Snowflake, also known as snow crystal, is a common figure in heraldry and one of the newer Herold images.

The representation of the coat of arms is done in a highly stylized imitation of the natural crystalline form of snow in the sixfold star shape. In the old literature, this common figure has not been known. In modern heraldry, the snow crystal occurs predominantly in the arms of the northern European countries, such as Sweden, Norway and Finland, on. This is taken with the flake in the arms with respect to the meteorological features. Otherwise, it also symbolizes winter, with the sun about the seasons (eg, Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria, together with the wells for Kursaisonen ), or local major winter sports and the like (eg, Saalbach- Hinterglemm, Austria, together with a pair of skis ).

The color scheme is mainly done in white or silver.
