The Socialist Union of Popular Forces (Arabic الاتحاد الاشتراكي للقوات الشعبية, DMG al -Ittihad al - ištirākī li - l - Quwwat aš - ša ʿ Biya, French Socialist Union of Popular Forces, USFP ) is a left positioning of the center political party in Morocco.

The party is a full member of the Socialist International.

History

The Socialist Union of Popular Forces was originally founded as a spin-off of the National Union of Popular Forces, a socialist opposition party, which in turn in 1959 split from the Istiqlal Party.

At meetings held on 27 September 2002 parliamentary elections, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces 50 of the 325 seats, which made them the largest party in the Assembly of Representatives of Morocco won. She reigned from now on with the Istiqlal party in a three- party coalition known as the " Koutla ".

In the next general election, held on 7 September 2007, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces won only 38 of the 325 seats, so lost 12 seats in parliament and has now become the fifth largest party in parliament. The party was in the government of Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, formed on 15 October 2007, involved.

In the run up to parliamentary elections in November 2011, it sought the Socialist Union of Popular Forces to a united front with the party of progress and socialism (PPS ) and the Front of Democratic Forces ( FFD) be presented to the loss of support within the Moroccan left in to make the last few years back.
