Södertälje Kings

Sodertalje Kings is a Swedish basketball team of Södertälje. It is the men's team of Södertälje BBK.

History

The club Södertälje BBK was founded in 1968. Until the spin-off of the men's team, the club 1978-1992 six Swedish Basketball Champion. In the 80's and 90's, the club also took part in various times European Cup competitions. Between 1987 and 1993 they played in the European Cup Winners' Cup, in which the team was unsuccessful. Between 1995/ 96 and 2000/ 01 the club was represented four times in Korać Cup, where he also had no success.

After the spin-off made ​​it the first time in 1996 to Kings final of the Swedish supremacy in basketball. Against the New Wave Sharks, they lost the series almost 2:3. In the following year it managed despite a poor season, it was only the eighth of ten, again the play-off final. Again, had the Kings 2:3 defeated, this time against Plannja Basket. In the 2004/05 season then scored the first championship win after the spin-off, and the seventh overall. The final series against the Sundsvall Dragons was won with 4:2. After that, it was not enough for the big throw, 2004, 2008 and 2011 failed Södertälje in the semifinals, in 2012 the Kings lost the final series against Norrkoping Dolphins with 2:4.

2012/13 took the Kings part in the Euro Challenge and failed just in the first group stage.
