Sofron Dmyterko

Sofron Dmyterko OSBM ( born June 1, 1917 in Stari Petlykiwzi, Austria - Hungary, now Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine; † 5 November 2008) was bishop of the Eparchy of Ivano-Frankivsk of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine.

Life

Sofron Dmyterko joined the Congregation of the Basilian in, took off in 1937 professed and ordained a priest on May 14, 1942. 1968 he was secretly appointed bishop and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Ivano- Frankivsk. He received his episcopal consecration on November 30, 1968 Bishop Ivan Slesjuk. In 1991 he was appointed bishop of the Eparchy of Ivano- Frankivsk. His resignation aged 81 was granted by Pope John Paul II.
