Softdisk

Soft Disk is a service company in the online sector and former publisher of computer games, which was founded in 1981 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

First they sold each month a disk with software for Apple II and Commodore 64, and later for the IBM PC and Apple Macintosh, and then for the Apple IIgs and Microsoft Windows. In addition, soft disc brought out the Screen Saver Studio, which is now distributed by Flat Rock Software. In 1989 published soft disk for the C64 under the label Loadstar / Soft Disk Publishing, Inc. the first Sudoku computer game called DigitHunt.

Soft Disk is best known for the fact that the later id Software founder John Carmack and John Romero programmed there their first major title. On a special floppy disk that appeared every two months, they released titles such as Hovertank 3D, Rescue Rover and Keen Dreams. The mainly written by Carmack engines were later used for other games.

As of 1995, changed its name soft disk as Internet providers, web hosts and web developers. In this industry the company operates to this day.
