Sofyane Cherfa (Arabic سفيان شرفة; born August 13, 1984 in Toulouse ) is a French football player of Algerian origin.

Club career

Cherfa 1999 moved in the youth team of AS Monaco, where he was admitted to the second team in 2003. Although he regularly ran aground for this, did not succeed to the jump in the first selection, which contested the highest French league because the club belongs to the French football system. Instead Cherfa changed in the summer of 2005, with almost 21 years to the third division CS Louhans - Cuiseaux, where he immediately became a regular in the defense.

This allowed him to move to the second division for Stade Reims in 2007. For Reims he reached his debut in professional football when he was brought on at a second league match against FC Libourne on 3 August 2007 in stoppage time of the second half. Three weeks later he was in the starting lineup for the first time and was able to for the rest of the season secure a position as a regular player. Nevertheless, he returned Reims after a year back and signed with CS Sedan, which he left in 2009 but again even after a year, when he moved to LB Châteauroux. In Châteauroux he first came irregularly used, was in his second season but again a regular player.

The club figured his time being last stop in France because Cherfa 2011 at age 26 decided for a change to the Cypriot first division club Omonia Nicosia. During his first year abroad, he was ranked among the top performers of his team in the first Cypriot League and gained by winning the Cypriot Cup the first title of his career. Despite all those in charge decided in summer 2012 to give the players at the Greek first division Panthrakikos. Also in the third country where Cherfa was used as a player, he was able to maintain its common position in the highest Greek league.

National

In preparation for the qualification for the Olympic football tournament in 2008 Cherfa belonged to a selection of 14 Algerian young players from French clubs. Thanks to his Algerian heritage, he could have played for an Algerian national team, but was called no more time in such a team. For a French selection, he never ran on.
