Soichi Noguchi (野 口 聡 一Japanese, Soichi Noguchi, born April 15, 1965 in Yokohama, Japan) is a Japanese astronaut.

1984 Noguchi successfully completed high school from Chigasaki, to then begin to study engineering at the University of Tokyo, which he successfully with a Bachelor's and 1991 ended with a master's degree in aeronautical engineer in 1989.

Noguchi is married and has three children.

Astronauts activity

In June 1996, Noguchi was selected by NASDA, the predecessor of the Japanese space agency JAXA as an astronaut. In August, he went to the Johnson Space Center (JSC ) to two years to complete a training mission specialist there. He then adopted in 1998 a basic training for Russian manned space systems in Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut training center part. In addition, he was admitted to the JSC in the Japanese Experimental Module Kibo ISS.

First mission: STS -114

As of April 2001, Noguchi was preparing for his first space flight, which was delayed several times due to the Columbia accident in February 2003. On 26 July 2005, he started with STS -114 to the first flight of a space shuttle after the crash of the Columbia. Noguchi conducted three spacewalks ( EVAs ) by a total duration of about 20 hours. He has the spacemen from host countries (neither Russia / USSR nor USA ) is the largest EVA experience.

Second use: ISS crew

Noguchi leads from December 2009 to May 2010 as part of the ISS Expeditions 22 and 23, an extended stay aboard the International Space Station through. The launch of the Soyuz TMA -17 on 20 December 2009, return on June 2, 2010.
