Soko Grad (Sokobanja)

The fortress Sokograd is a medieval castle in Serbia in the vicinity of the spa Sokobanja, in Opština Sokobanja.

History

The fortress was built in the 14th century on a hill above the river Sokobanjska Moravica. Archaeological excavations indicate that the castle was built on the foundations of an older system from the 4th to the 7th century.

The castle was conquered in 1459 by the Ottomans.

The remains of the castle are now a protected monument.
