Castle story

The exact date of the establishment of Falkenburg on the top of Sokol lost in the story. The first mention of the castle is to be found in 1415, when Albrecht is authenticated by Doenis as the owner. Probably the castle served to protect the trade route from Zittau to Jablonné ( German fork).

During the Hussite Wars Hussite garrison raubschatzte in the area. Therefore, in 1431 the Upper Lusatian Six Towns League destroyed the first time the castle, which was however quickly rebuilt. 1434 after the battle of Lipan denied the lords reconciliation with the League of Six, whereupon the Emperor Sigismund ordered the Zittau to destroy the castle. 1437 was widespread, the castle was burned down by his own imprudence. This fact is considered as a ruse to ward off the complete destruction. Nicholas Falke von Lamberg later took over the castle already rebuilt before it was finally destroyed in 1467 by the League of Six. She served for some time as a hideout for bandits, but was already in 1513 as desolate.

Today, you can see only a few remnants of the city walls and foundation walls of the stronghold.
