Solar eclipse of September 2, 1997

The partial solar eclipse of 2 September 1997 was observed in Australia and New Zealand and in East Antarctica. In Western Australia, the full course of the darkness could not be observed because the sun only rose during the eclipse. While in South Australia the moon covered half of the solar disk, touched in northern Australia, the moon, the sun barely. Better visibility was New Zealand, where the eclipse took place at noon.
