List of solar eclipses in the 21st century
This list contains all the eclipses of the 21st century, which can be observed in this century from Earth, including those with pure partial visibility.
Survey
In the 21st century, a total of 224 solar eclipses take place. These are relatively few compared to the long-term average of 238 solar eclipses per century. There are 81 years in which eclipses take place only two, what is the minimum possible number. The theoretical maximum of five eclipses in a year there are in the 21st century ever before. The four eclipses occur in the years 2011, 2029, 2047, 2076 and 2084th
The following table shows the number of eclipses of the 21st century, differentiated according to the different types of eclipses:
The longest total solar eclipse took place on 22 July 2009 and had a maximum duration of totality of 6 minutes and 39 seconds. The longest annular was on 15 January 2010, the annular phase lasted while a maximum of 11 minutes and 8 seconds. The hybrid solar eclipse of 3 November 2013, the longest of its kind and achieved a totality duration of 1 minute and 40 seconds. It is a ring at the beginning for a short time, then totally and remains so until the end.
Legend
The following table contains all the eclipses of the 21st century. It contains the following columns:
- Time: The time data are in Terrestrial Dynamic Time ( TDT ). At the beginning of the century, the difference between TDT and Universal Time was (UT ) 64 seconds ( At), towards the end of the century, a value of 204 seconds is assumed.
- Type: Possible types are total, annular, hybrid and partial.
- Saros: The number of the Saros cycle, which belongs to the darkness. If the number is odd, find the darkness in the vicinity of a rising moon node instead, is it just on a descending.
- Gamma: The gamma value of a solar eclipse, ie the minimum distance of the shadow axis from Earth's center.
- Size: The maximum size of the darkness according to the definition used by NASA.
- Duration: If the period of total or annular phase of the eclipse at the place at which the axis of the umbral shadow cone of the moon to the center of the Earth is closest (Greatest Eclipse). This usually corresponds approximately to the longest period of darkness.
- Path width: The width of the path of the umbra or the zone of the annular eclipse during Greatest Eclipse (see duration) in kilometers. For total eclipses, this value is almost the maximum width of the umbra.
- Visibility Area: areas where the eclipse is visible. In total, hybrid or annular eclipses initially specified including areas with partial visibility, then separately the areas with total or annular visibility. In such eclipses a web link is also included before the listing of areas with annular or total visibility that calls a page from NASA showing the eclipse path.
