Solec Kujawski

Solec Kujawski [ sɔlɛts kujafsci ] ( German Schulitz ) is a town on the Vistula River in the Kujawsko - Pomerania. It has about 15,000 inhabitants and is located 20 kilometers south-east of Bydgoszcz ( Bromberg ) and 35 km north- west of Toruń ( Thorn ). Solec Kujawski is part of the powiat Bydgoski in the Polish province of Kujawy. The city leads the Saints Stanislaus in their coat of arms.

History

Schulitz 1244 first mentioned as Soleetz. 1402 occurs the first time a documentary mention under the name Schulitz. In a document of 1325 the place is already being referred to as the city that granted the city rights must therefore be carried out earlier. In 1332 the city was conquered by German Teutonic Knights, while heavily damaged. Casimir III. was in the episode after the Treaty of Kalisch significantly strengthen the fortifications. The city was an insignificant trading center. 1772 under the first partition of Poland in the place came to Prussia. In 1788 the town had 316 inhabitants, 36 houses and a Catholic church. 1837 were counted 53 houses and 509 inhabitants. She was part of Prussia from 1772 to 1807 for the province of West Prussia from 1807 to 1815 to the Duchy of Warsaw and then to the administrative district of Bromberg in the province of Posen. 1910-1912 was the building of the brick church of St. Stanislaus.

After the First World War, the city with the Treaty of Versailles in 1920 was again part of Poland. Part of the German minority left the city and had to relocate the remaining empire. On 2 December 1924, the renaming of Solec the current name Solec Kujawski was.

During the Second World War Solec Kujawski was occupied by German troops. On 23 January 1945 the liberation of the city from German occupation took place.

Since 4 September 1999, the Polish Broadcasting operates near its central Solec Kujawski longwave transmitter for the frequency 225 kHz. This system is the replacement for the earlier system in Konstantynów whose mast was the tallest structure in the world to collapse. As a transmitting antenna, a directional antenna is composed of a 330 meter and a 289 meter high grounded transmission tower located at a distance of 330 meters, are used.
