Solsbury Hill (song)

Solsbury Hill is a song by Peter Gabriel from 1977, which he wrote after he had left the band Genesis. The song is from the climb to the top of Solsbury Hill in Somerset, UK, on a prehistoric Neolithic fortification stands. The "I " narrator is a man who at the ascent of the mountain has a spiritual experience.

The song plays mainly in a 7/4-Taktart before it briefly changes towards the end of each verse in 4/4. Among other things, the classic in films such as Vanilla Sky and Good Company could be heard.

In October 2011, appeared on Peter Gabriel's album New Blood an orchestral re-recording of the song as a " bonus track".
