Soltanije (also: Soltaniyeh, Persian سلطانیه, DMG Soltaniyeh ) is a city in the Iranian province of Zanjan, about 45 km southeast of the provincial capital of Zanjan, in the transition region of the flattening staggered eastern foothills of the mountain ranges of the Zagros one hand and the Alborz Edge Mountains on the other hand.

History

Soltanije even gained cultural significance of the early 14th century the Mongol rule. From this time the Ilchane even touched the temporary status as capital of Iran. Today the village Soltanije has nearly 6000 inhabitants and leads a contemplative existence. Older parts of the village are presented in the typical rural Iran Lehmhausbauweise.

Öldscheitü Mausoleum

Between 1302 and 1312 the was still preserved in large parts Öldscheitü mausoleum, originally for Ali ibn Abi Talib ( Muhammad's cousin and son ) and his son Hossein was determined. Ultimately, was the builder, Mongol Sultan Öldscheitü, highly self is buried.

The Öldscheitü Mausoleum was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2005.
