Solymar is a seaside resort in the south of Uruguay and part of the Ciudad de la Costa.

Geography

Solymar is located on the territory of the department of Canelones in whose sector 37 on the coast of the Río de la Plata. There, the resort is now forms part of the Ciudad de la Costa. To the west is bordered Solymar in the coastal section at El Bosque, in the hinterland of Lagomar. The distance to the city center Solymars the westerly state capital Montevideo is about 24 kilometers.

Education

Solymar has two secondary schools ( Liceo ). These are founded on the March 21, 1972 Liceo N º 1 de Solymar and on 9 March 1992 the teaching receiving Liceo N º 2 de Solymar.

Culture

In Solymar is the Museo del Pan is ( Eng.: Bread Museum ).

Traffic

The Ruta Interbalnearia affected the city in the north.

Population

The city has 18,573 inhabitants. (As of 2011)
