Sommelsdijk

Sommelsdijk is a place on the island of Goeree -Overflakkee in South Holland. Together with Nieuwe- Tonge, Middelharnis and city aan 't Haringvliet making it the town of Middelharnis. Since 1 January 2013, this area belongs to the municipality of Goeree -Overflakkee. Neighboring towns are Melissant, Ouddorp and Dirk country. Sommelsdijk had 7383 inhabitants on 1 January 2006, which make the place the largest settlement on the island.

Previously Sommelsdijk was the only place on the island, which was part of Zealand. In 1805 he was handed over to Holland. 1866 Sommelsdijk was incorporated into Middelharnis.
