Somsdorf is a district of the Saxon district town in the district of Freital Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains.

Geography

Somsdorf is located in the extreme west of the Freitaler urban area on a plateau between the valleys of the Red and White Ritz Wilder Weißeritz. Somsdorf is on an agricultural plateau and is surrounded by forests on the Weißeritztalhängen. East of the village is the Rabenauer reason the south " Somsdorfer height".

Neighboring places are the city Tharandt, in the northeast of Freitaler district Hainberg, southwest noble crown ( district of the municipality Klingenberg ) and in the south Lübau ( Rabenau ) and Borlas ( Klingenberg ) in the northwest. In the southeast the city Rabenau connects.

The district Somsdorf is the largest area in Freital, but only a small part is inhabited. By 1907 Coßmannsdorf belonged to Somsdorf. The place became independent and a normal community.

History

Already in 1238 said to have been consecrated in the Somsdorf George Church. Somsdorf itself is only around 1350 Ersterwähnt. The place was duly Castrum Dresden in the Margraviate of Meissen. 1432 a Vorwerk is called in Somsdorf. From the year 1550, the village belonged to the Official Tharandt Grillenburg. In the district reform in 1952 Somsdorf was added to the circuit Freital. The autonomy lost Somsdorf with the incorporation to Freital on 1 January 1974. Freital The circle existed even after the reunification until 1994 as a county Freital on and then went on in Weißeritzkreis.
