Song Sokze

Seong Seok -je (or song Sokze, born July 5, 1960 in Sangju in the province of Gyeongsangbuk ) is a South Korean writer.

Life

Seong Seok -je was born on 5 July 1960 in Sangju in North Gyeongsang Province. His father, who studied in spite of the prevailing chaos after the Korean War and belonged to the elite, worked for a time as a civil servant, but returned shortly afterwards to his home, where he was throughout his life the head of a three -generation family. The figure of the father, who took care of the family as " a chicken, spreading its wings it," seemed to Seong Seok -je oppressive. As this feeling grew stronger, he ran away from home several times, but was brought back each time. Because his brothers were older, spent Seong Seok -je his childhood almost alone. After elementary school, he read all sorts of books by each other, such as the Bible, drama, romance novels, stories or Chinese warriors. Around the time when he went off from elementary school, one of his brothers died in the army, on which the whole hope of the family had rested. His family moved to Seoul, and he spent his youth on the outskirts of Seoul. After he had begun in 1979 to study at the Yonsei University, he entered upon the recommendation of the poet Ki Hyeong -do in the literary circle of Yonsei University. 1984, after military service, he began in earnest with his literary work. In June 1986 he made his debut as a poet.

He then worked for a short time in a publishing house and then led for six months the life of a vagabond. The experiences of this time confirmed him in becoming a writer. From 1987 he spent six years working in the press office of a large company.

1991 his first book of poems was published questions on foreign routes. In 1993, he stopped working and began to write seriously. The following year he published a collection of short stories entitled monsters live there. Seong Seok -je had initially started with a temperature between poem and novel form, wrote his first story in 1995, the last 4.5 seconds of my life. After their appearance, he devoted himself to writing.

Following the publication of several novels and short stories, he is still on a journey from which he does not know how long they will last. He hears stories of people he met on this trip, and so will obtain material for his novels. The essence of his novels that between truth and fiction, seriousness and joking back and forth is located, exactly in such stories. " A serious narrator loves the story itself. A narrator does not expect the story to bring him something, but thinks about what he can do for the story. In the story of the narrator, the existing seam between history and reality is often not seen. " Thus, Seong Seok- ever explained his creative work.
