The Sonklarspitze, also called Sonklarspitz, is a 3463 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the main crest of the Stubai Alps. He is exactly on the border between the Austrian state of Tyrol and the Italian Autonomous Province of Bolzano -Alto Adige. The mountain was k.k. after Military geographers and surveyors Carl Albrecht Sonklar named by Innstädten. The summit is a broad, snow-covered knoll that sends to the north, towards Wilder Pfaff, a pronounced north ridge. The peak point is covered by a snow field, which extends in a southeasterly direction over an ice cliff in the Übeltalferner.

Location

The Sonklarspitze is located about seven kilometers north-east in a straight line from the Timmelsjoch, 14 km west of Innerpflersch in Pflerschtal ( Italian: Val di Fleres ) and 10 km south-west of Ranalt in the Stubai Valley. East of the Sonklarspitze is the Übeltalferner which reaches up to a height of 3300 meters, in the west of the drive Karle Further situated at an altitude of up to 3400 meters. Adjacent Mountains are in the course of Nordgrats, separated by the location on 3298 meters above sea level Sonklarscharte, the 3456 meter high Wilde Pfaff and in the course of fissured hanging Südgrats the High Ice ( 3392 m). Geology

The area around the Sonklarspitze was unfolded in a Schlingentektonik and is in the top corridors of not particularly erosion-resistant slate gneisses, which form an extremely brittle rock with a pronounced risk of rock falls. Bases and routes

The path of the first ascent on August 5, 1869 by Richard Gutberlet and his companions from the northern Sulzenaualpe, near the present-day Sulzenauhütte, up over the Sulzenauferner for Connection Ridge Wilder Pfaff- Sonklarspitze and the north ridge to the summit. It took about six hours from the Sulzenaualpe. The normal route to the Sonklarspitze, also the way of the first ascent, takes over the fragile northern ridge of the Sonklarscharte. As a base now serves either the Mueller hut ( Rifugio Cima Libera) at 3143 meters above sea level, or the Mug House ( Ref. Gino Biasi alla del Bicchiere Pinta ), 3190 meters. The route across the glacier is a high tour, which requires appropriate equipment and knowledge.
