Sonya Yoncheva

Sonya Yoncheva ( Bulgarian Соня Йончева, Sonja Jontschewa; born December 25, 1981 in Plovdiv ) is a Bulgarian soprano and opera singer.

Yoncheva studied piano and singing in Plovdiv and at the Geneva Conservatory. She won numerous awards and competitions, including the 2010 Operalia Opera Competition.

Yoncheva sang in many opera productions, including La Scala in Milan, Teatro Real Madrid, Tonhalle Zurich and the Alte Oper Frankfurt. In the fall of 2013 was obliged Sonya Yoncheva as Gilda in the opera Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She sings on the side of Dmitri Hvorostovsky in the role of Rigoletto.
