Sopho Khalvashi

Sopo Khalvashi (Georgian სოფო ხალვაში [' sɔp ʰ ɔ ' xalvaʃi ]; born May 31, 1986 in Batumi ) is a Georgian singer lasischer descent. It represented the first Georgian her country at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2007 (ESC ) in Helsinki and reached with her song Visionary Dream from the album My Story 12th in the final.

Life

It comes from a Laz family and grew up in Batumi. The parents discovered her early musical talent. She attended the Academy of Music, studied oboe and piano, sang mezzo soprano. 2003 and 2004 Khalvashi was awarded Georgian junior competitions with prizes for piano playing or singing. In the Latvian talent show New Wave 2006 in Jurmala she finished in third place. She then signed a contract with the Russian agency ARS and worked as a presenter at a talent show of Georgian private Imedi TV.

In December 2006 Khalvashi was selected by the Public Broadcasting of Georgia ( SSM) to participate as first Georgian at the semi-finals of Euro Vision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki. Her song for the Euro Vision Song Contest was established on March 3, 2007 in a televised vote of five songs. With 51 % of the vote, the folkloric dance-pop song My Story prevailed. He was listed in Helsinki under the title Visionary Dream. The latter is also the name of a published 2007 Music Album Chalwaschis.

When Euro Vision Song Contest it was managed by the Ukrainian PR company CFC, which has organized the Ukrainian ESC winner Ruslana Lyschytschko 2004. CFC used the participation Chalwaschis to establish Georgia by nation branding as a brand. The stage show was therefore matched to the colors of the flag of Georgia, in the background tourist views of the country and character of the Georgian alphabet were shown to the singer around a sword dance listed.
