Sopot, Serbia

Sopot (Serbian: Сопот ) is a suburb of Belgrade.

The Day of the Municipality Sopot is 2 July, the date of preparation of the partisan division Kosmaj.

Name

The name Sopot is Old Slavonic origin and means - " source or water as it cascades ". The town of Sopot was the middle of the village Ropočevo and is first mentioned in the map Langer at the beginning of the 19th century. Ropočevo and Sopot are shown in this map as villages for themselves. The Belgrade Municipalities Sopot heard since 1956.
