The Ruisseau de l' Etang d' Assat and the Ruisseau le Pontet have cut into the Variscan basement of the north-western Massif Central, which here of migmatitic paragneisses ( Metatexiten ) is represented. Downstream transgredieren Liassedimente ( sandstones, arkoses and dolomites of the Hettangiums, breccias and sandstones of the Pliensbachiums, and gray-blue mudstones and dolomites of the Toarciums ). About the Lias follow in the west of the township recrystallized limestones of the Dogger. These are the hamlet of Les Bories of gray Oolithkalken superimposed ( with brown ooids ) of the Middle Bathoniums. The ridge on the northern edge of the municipality consists of the tertiary alluvium ( sands, gravels, gravel and clays ) of a former river course. The back at Langlardie forms a side branch of the same river system. The slopes located further downstream are composed of colluvium that covers partly the basement, partly the sediments; is here to rearrangements of the tertiary alluvium.
