Arrondissement of Nontron

The district Nontron is an administrative district in the Dordogne in the Aquitaine region of France.

History

On 4 March 1790, founded with the establishment of the department of Dordogne is also a " district Nontron ", being the present arrondissement in many parts. On February 17, 1800 from the district was established.

Geography

The district is bordered to the north by the district Rochechouart and on the northeast by the district Limoges, both in the department of Haute -Vienne (Limousin ), to the east by the district Brive- la -Gaillarde in the département of Corrèze, also Limousin, on the south by the district of Périgueux and to the west by the district Angoulême in the Charente ( Poitou -Charentes ).

The district is divided into eight cantons ( population 2007 level ):

Terms of area, the largest canton is the Canton Nontron, he simultaneously has the highest population figures. The population density, however, is the canton Thiviers leader.
