Spangereid

Farsund is a formerly independent municipality in Vest- Agder ( Norway).

Location

Farsund is centrally located on fyr, then route 460 between Vigeland and the Lindesnes. The next largest cities are Lyngdal (12 miles), Vigeland (15 miles) and Mandal (25 km). Kristiansand ferry to Denmark and Germany is only 60 km away, Stavanger is 200 km.

History

From 1839 onwards formed clasp Reid together with Konsmo, Valle and Vigmostad the Audnedal ( Undal ) formannskapsdistrikt. 1844 Audnedal was again divided in Sør- and Nord- Audnedal. Clasp Reid and Valle went on together in the municipality Sør- Audnedal. This municipality was divided again in 1897 - Valle retained the name Sør- Audnedal, clasp Reid was self-employed until 1964 After a large part of clasp Reid went along with Sør- Audnedal and Vigmostad on in the current municipality Lindesnes, . the portion west of the Lenefjord became a part of Lyngdal.

Today

Even if Spangereid with GE Healthcare ( an X-ray contrast media agent manufacturer) has one of the largest employers in the Greater Region, clasp Reid is even gesprägt especially through tourism. Especially the Lindesnes fyr and the salmon rich Audna each year attract many people (especially "Angel tourists " ) to North Norway, Germany, Belgium and Holland. 2006 have been added to the Viking land and barna dyre park ( a children's zoo ) other attractions for children.

Opened in 2007, Farsund channel contained his name in reference to the place.
