Spanish era

The Era, also called the "Spanish era " (Latin: Aera Hispanica ), a chronology, whose epoch is an unknown event from the year 38 BC. Isidore of Seville ( 7th century ) claims in his book " etymologies " that this event was an ( otherwise completely unknown ) census of Caesar Augustus, from the annual tribute of ore (Latin aes, aeris = " ore " ) paid had to be. It is more likely that the word " era " related to the word year. Whether a connection with the year of submission of Spain is under Roman rule, is unproven, but suspected.

The Era was of great importance in Spain, where he was common especially during the reign of the Visigoths, partially even into the 15th century as well as in Portugal and partly in the southwest of France.

The Era plays a key role in the ( scientifically untenable ) theory of Invented Middle Ages, where it is suspected that the Era was an artifact of the Church and in the Middle Ages not used in reality. While it is indeed a significant part of the Visigothic grave stones and church inscriptions been recognized with Era dating as forged ( Emil Hübner and others ), the existence of this era, there are in the serious science, however, no doubt.
