The Guardia Real consists in repeatedly changed form since the Middle Ages, but was dissolved in 1931 by the Second Republic. After the end of the Spanish Civil War it was again introduced by Franco as Casa Militar de su Excelencia el Jefe del Estado y Generalísimo. She was the direct predecessor of today's Guardia Real.
