The Sparda Bank Hessen- Stadion is a football stadium in Offenbach am Main. After the demolition of the stadium on Bieberer mountain it was rebuilt on the same site. The football club Kickers Offenbach plays its home games from here.

Location

The stadium is located on a hill known as Bieberer mountain near the district of Offenbach Bieber at the Bieberer road.

History

As the stadium on Bieberer mountain no longer met the requirements of a modern football stadium, it had first plans for a stadium renovation, then if later on a nearly 30,000 -seat building. However, both projects could not be put into action for lack of investors. As a new stadium for the OFC from the economical point was absolutely necessary but, Offenbach magistrate finally a 25 million Euro building decided in a landmark decision on June 18, 2009. The client is the stadium company Bieberer mountain ( SBB) as a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Offenbach Holding ( SOH) newly established. These rented the stadium to the OFC, which has for its outsourced professional department in a corporation. The stadium was opened on 29 June 2012 and inaugurated on 18 July 2012 with a friendly match against Bayer 04 Leverkusen (0:3).

Architecture

The A - Rank Stadium with four individual stands was built by Bremer AG of Paderborn. In February 2011, began with the demolition of the old stadium, which was completed in summer 2012. Apart from the offices of the Swiss Federal Railways and the Kickers - office, the stadium also hosts a fan shop, a branch of the Sparda-Bank Hessen and other stores.

A special feature is the back straight of the stadium dar. Unlike in other stages here are no seats, but the standing of Kickers fans. This was already the case in the stadium on Bieberer mountain and was maintained at the express request of the fans.

Capacity

The stadium has a capacity of approximately 20,500 seats ( 10,300 seats and 10,200 standing). If necessary, the capacity can be increased by a further 2,000 standing places on the back straight. The stadium has 10 lodges with a total of 120 seats, 800 business seats and 40 wheelchair spaces. The visiting fans are approximately 3,000 spaces available (seated and standing).

  • East Stand: about 3,950 seats
  • West Stand: approximately 3,050 seats and 1,800 standing places
  • Grandstand: about 3,300 seats, 800 business seats and 120 box seats
  • Backstretch: 8,400 standing places

Naming rights

The naming rights to the stadium were sold in December 2009 for 5 million euro to Sparda - Bank Hessen. The contract is valid from 2010 and runs for 10 years.
