Specker See

The Specker lake is located in the municipality Kargow southeast of goods in the west of the Müritz National Park in the district of Mecklenburg Lake District in southeast Mecklenburg. From the west in the Müritz lake separates only a 1700 -meter-wide land bridge. It is about 2800 meters long and 1300 meters wide.

Description

The body of water located within the protection zone I ( core zone) of the Müritz National Park, the fishing is therefore only allowed with a special permit.

The strong verschilfte lake lies amid the marsh on the eastern shore of Lake Müritz, nestled between Röbelscher Wold and Specker Wold in the west and a wooded area to the east. About the built in 1866 and the 1932-1934 Flötergraben created as a connection channel and drainage " branch canal north " of the lake drained to the lake Müritz.

Especially west of the lake is a Versumpfungsmoor, which was once drained. This process continued until the year 1989. Thereafter, the artificial drainage, the " Hermann ditch ", sealed, and the water level rose again. Through this process died from the existing birch forest and formed a typical bog vegetation. The south of the lake existing agricultural land was also vermoort and now provides water and wading birds habitat.
