Speed skating at the 1932 Winter Olympics

In the III. 1932 Olympic Games in Lake Placid four competitions were held in speed skating. Venue was the James B. Sheffield Olympic Skating Rink with a natural ice rink.

Besides the men were allowed for the first time to prove their speed on the ice and the women. The Speed ​​Skating Women was held in Lake Placid as a demonstration event. Olympic medals were won for the women but no. The start field was very small, it only took 10 athletes from two countries participated. As an official Olympic speed skating competition of the women was recorded only at the Olympic Winter Games of 1960 in the program.
